Heavy rains possible today in Showers and Storms. Flooding concerns as well as some severe storms possible. Much cooler tomorrow and a nice dry spell with temps slightly below normal through the weekend.
Summary: Thunderstorms were widespread for may regions last night. Many reports of wind damage and hail. You should check the storm reports. Showers and storms should be widespread today and again, some strong to severe are possible. Winds and the potential for hail is there, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out, especially Southeastern VA and Eastern NC. See SPC’s outlook. Heavy rains also appear possible in storms. Flash flooding would not b a surprise anywhere due to the very saturated conditions of the last 2 weeks. See the HPC outlook. Needless to say, the potential for a very busy day for the NWS! MUCH cooler temperatures visit today and tomorrow with areas not breaking 80. A dry period begins Friday and could last through Tuesday! Highs will be a few degrees below normal until Monday.
