5/18 DC/MD/VA Weather Outlook

Posted on May 18, 2005 By Mid Atlantic Weather No Comments on 5/18 DC/MD/VA Weather Outlook

Afternoon and Evening thunderstorms are now possible and some could be severe! Hail and damaging winds are the biggest threat. Showers and some Thunderstorms again tomorrow, but especially tomorrow night into Friday. A cooler pattern for Friday and Saturday and then some warming.

Summary: I was taken back a bit by the forecasted instability now being presented in model output for this afternoon. The Instability is not extreme, but there are some factors that will come into play that could make it pretty bad for a few storms today. As a warm front and then a front approaches the area tomorrow night into Friday we will have more showers and thunderstorms. Cooler condition tonight into tomorrow and then warmer conditions Sunday into Monday. A chance of storms should enter the forecast by Monday evening and into Tuesday.

I have updated the Tropical Weather Center and it is currently tracking Tropical Storm Adrian in the Eastern Pacific Ocean! This system has the potential to cross Central America and emerge as the first tropical storm of the Atlantic! That would be a wild situation and I am not sure of the History behind such an occurrence. We are supposedly set for a very active season according to Dr Gray and the NWS. This could be a wild season!
