Cold is a bigger concern than snow from now through Monday. NWS has an advisory posted. Not really that concerned about accumulations, but I kind of agree with their concern. If precip falls, and melts and ultimately freezes, it could be a slipper Monday AM commute. (mountains will see 3-6″ from this event. Lake effect areas will see more) Week is interesting. Think Tuesday night could see freezing rain and sleet in spots and Wednesday night precip could change back over to snow. Threat for Christmas weekend really growing!
As usual I am way too busy and thus my late day response. Snow showers likely tomorrow evening and overnight. Threat is smaller in southern regions, but northern 2/3rds should see snow showers (though a brief rain/snow mix will be involved at the start in the south). The bigger story will be the winds and blustery cold Mnonday. Highes will range from teens in the mountasins to low 30Â?s at best in the far southeast. Expecting wind chill advisories for mountainous areas!
Another system approaches Tuesday Night Through Thursday. The start of the system could very easily have sleet and freezing rain, even some snow, mixed in, but the strong southerly flow will overpower this and even heavy rains could fall in the region Wednesday.
A strong front come through Friday and plummets us again into the 30s for the weekend. A strong southern system will be moving up the NC coastline and we are plenty cold for snow.. so I really believe Christmas day will see an increase in clouds and snow overspreading the area! I am getting very confident that a storm will affect the region.
I am not going to have time to break it down any more than this for the time being.
All for now!
