Not too much to talk about today other than the cold breezes! This has been advertised for a long while. The fly in the ointment for tomorrow is the snow squalls and coating of snow that could make tomorrow evening’s commute home a slippery time! In SE VA and NE NC there could be up to an inch or slightly more of snow.
Then we get REALLY REALLY COLD!
Saturday will have temps falling all day and breezy winds. Sunday Morning Temps and Wind Chills for the DC area

Then we have the winter storm!
So many issues with this storm, but the cold that you see above should be retreating so we get the snow to mix to rain set up. We also have trapping of colder air at the surface so we have icing concerns as well. Confidence in Snow vs. ice rain for areas of immediate Piedmont and Mountains has increased the last 24 hours. A mix to to ice for areas west of 95 is likely and a mix to rain is likely east of 95. There is a concern for an ice storm for Virginia and North Carolina valleys. Exact details will come into focus the next day or so. A warm up will follow, but the ice/snow may dampen the maxes that could have occurred with no snow around!
